Grambella Suite Activities

“Rethimno is a place you always come back to”. This is said by those who have visited Crete and its region and it is absolutely true. For those of you who choose Crete for their holidays and would like to combine a relaxing family vacation with exotic places, historical sights and walks in the picturesque narrow streets of Rethimno, staying at the Grambella Suite is the best combination.

Villa Grambella and the Grambella Suite are located in Sfakaki, just 11 kilometers outside of Rethimno. Sfakaki, is a housing estate built along a beach at 500 meters from the Grambella Suite and offers you a chance to enjoy daily visits at the sea.

At a walking distance, one can meet the Grambella Suite of Stavromenos, from where you can get your daily supplies and get a taste the famous Cretan cuisine at the local taverns.

Also, at close distance you can find the beaches of Adelianos Kampos (where the protected caretta –caretta turtles lay their eggs  during the summer months) and there are also many water sports facilities, of Geropotamos (where the waters are extremely cool due to the river that flows there) and the one of Skaleta.

Staying at the Grambella Suite also offers you the chance of participation in the harvesting of olives. One can experience the traditional way of picking the olives, transporting them to the olive press and attend the whole procedure of producing olive oil.

If you love hiking, the Margatitsano ravine is very near with an impressive variety of plants and trees growing in an incomparable natural environment. Close by, you can also find the Arkadiotiko ravine, a place of peerless beauty.

The Marathokefala cave (in the Grambella Suite of Kinigiana) has a width of 160 meters and is one of the most interesting caves of the area along with that of Melidoni, a cave of great interest due to its archaeological findings and its  extreme beauty of wild  nature. Both caves are at a distance of 20 minutes from the Grambella Suite.

For those interested in history and sights, the Arsani Monastery is located exactly next to the Grambella Suite. This monastery dates from the 16^th century while a museum can be found in its premises. Also, the folkloric museum of Polios and the school museum of Amnatos are 10 minutes away.

The ancient Elefterna, the most important archaeological site of Rethimno, the Arkadi Monastery and the Grambella Suite of Margarites with its traditional pottery laboratories and the unique stone built churches are only some of the near places worth visiting.
